As the launch of my fourth book, Sustain: Mastering the High-Performance Paradox, approaches, I wanted to share a sneak peek into one of its most important themes: resilience.
Sustain is a culmination of years of work, reflection and experience, and I’m incredibly excited for its release on the 23rd of September.
Before the official launch, I’ll be sharing a few excerpts and behind-the-scenes insights to give you a flavour of what to expect. Watch the video below for a reading from the book on sustaining resilience.
Why Resilience Still Matters
The World Economic Forum recognises resilience, flexibility and agility as increasingly important skills for the future of jobs and thriving in the workplace. In a world of accelerating change, relentless pace and constant connectivity, this rings truer than ever.
But here’s the thing, we don’t lack information on how to be more resilient. If anything, we’re overwhelmed by it.
The real challenge is knowing how to filter this information to what is relevant and trustworthy, and then understanding how to apply it meaningfully in the context of our own lives and work.
What Resilience Really Requires
In Sustain, I focus on how to sustain high performance by building habits that support your energy, mood and motivation. Everything flows downstream from those three things.
By diving into what resilience is, how we can develop it, and thinking about how we can embed lasting habits, I was able to develop a fresh approach: The Sustain Framework.
The Four Pillars of The Sustain Framework
The Sustain Framework is built around four pillars:
- A strong sense of personal values
- A clear identity
- A close community of people in your network
- Resources that support resilience
These four elements form the foundation of resilience and are explored in detail in the book.
